Moving Interventions

Setting people and organisations in motion
With impactful interventions that strengthen your leadership

About Movint

Moving Interventions stands for ‘interventions that set people and organisations in motion’. After all, movement and change are the only constants. So: how do you preserve what’s ‘good’ in your organisation and move towards ‘even better’? In terms of collaboration between departments, for example, or changing ingrained (behavioural) patterns, or improving service to your customers, or promoting personal growth and development.
We work closely together on eliminating obstacles that are holding back movement. This might mean removing blockages at an organisational level, changing a particular mindset that hampers progress and strengthening indispensable skills.

Movint focuses on managers within organisations. Based on my belief that every employee deserves a good manager. In addition, managers play a shaping role in every organisation, meaning that they have a strong impact on how people do and experience their work!

Ron Mollinga

Trainer, consultant and (team)coach

About me

I have been working as a trainer, consultant and (team) coach since 2001. After starting my working career as a physical education teacher, I switched to a number of different jobs before deciding to work with groups again. I combine this with my knowledge as a sociologist: how do people behave in organisations and what could be done differently and better?

In addition to this educational background, my experience as an athlete also influences how I work with groups. I am a fairly no-nonsense person, goal-oriented, and see development as a joint process for which both I and the groups and individuals I work with are responsible.

What drives me in my work is being able to contribute to movement and growth. In organisations and in individuals. I achieve this through a variety of interventions that help participants gain new insights and adopt behaviours that are more flexible and effective.

Experience

Over the years, I have had the privilege of guiding many managers and leadership teams in their development. Both management teams at strategic level and first-line managers at operational level. I have also often guided leadership teams at different hierarchical levels within the same organisation, resulting in significant movement and improvement, especially in medium-sized organisations.

International

In addition, I have extensive experience with working with international groups. I have been active in Finland, England, Indonesia, Switzerland and other countries. In the Netherlands, I also work with groups consisting of managers of various nationalities. So you can count on me If you seek someone capable of working with a diversity of cultures and providing English-language training courses.

Offshore

In 2014, I acquired all the certificates needed for consultancy and training activities in an offshore environment. I am currently active on oil and gas platforms where I am mainly involved in coaching on the job: guiding and coaching the managers on board. I combine this with onshore walking coaching sessions and workshops and training days for large groups of managers.

The dynamics of offshore leadership are different from those we normally see. The people involved are together 24/7 for a prolonged period of time and get to know each other privately in addition to in a business setting. These dynamics require a specific style of leadership and I really enjoy the challenge of supporting managers in this situation.

Working method and style

Keywords that describe my style are clear, articulate, confidence-inspiring, sometimes confrontational, energetic and always with a touch of humour! In addition, I am capable of explaining complex topics in a practical and simple manner. The most important thing in my opinion is that people get to actually use the skills they need and want to strengthen. In other words, learning by doing!

Because understanding something is one thing, but being able to put it into practice is a different matter altogether. My interventions and the way I structure and apply them lead to the desired movement and change.
Thanks to this working method, I have achieved proven results with many managers and in many different organisations over the years.

Interventions

Before we start a (leadership) training programme, we jointly determine the main goals. In this phase, I am both specific (what exactly will the returns be?) and realistic (what returns can we realistically expect from specific interventions?) Because this differs for each customer, my strength lies in being able to offer a customised approach!
So: what interventions do we deploy when, for whom and for what purpose? Coupled with my skills in observing teams and individuals, giving feedback and creating an atmosphere that fosters growth and development, the interventions effectively initiate the desired movement and changes.

Possible interventions:

Multi-day and single-day training modules

I centre the modules around the key themes of the training programme, such as ‘Leadership Development’, ‘Strengthening Collaboration’ and ‘Change Management’. Practical, collaborative and in an atmosphere that fosters learning and trust.

Active outdoor sessions

A leader shows leadership through his behaviour! This is why I like to go outdoors with the participants and have them work on practical assignments that require leadership and collaboration.

Coaching on the job

I am present in the workplace to observe the individual manager doing his job. Or present to observe (management) teams as they work together. This allows me to provide concrete feedback and advice in the here-and-now. Past experience shows that this intervention has a major impact on insights and behaviour.

Structured peer learning sessions

In my role as facilitator, I support specific (target) groups in structured consultation sessions to discuss (leadership) issues and find the best solution paths.

Team coaching sessions

In these sessions, I facilitate the team process in a way that explicitly reveals blockages in how the team collaborates and inspires the team to address them.

Individual coaching

I do my coaching while walking. This is a setting that encourages people to speak more freely about themes and the dynamics of walking as an activity, the movement itself and simply being outdoors all facilitate the coaching process. I work with the person being coached to achieve a permanent behavioural change by removing belief-based blockages that in turn shape behaviour. As a result, that person experiences greater freedom of action, allowing him or her to adopt more effective behaviour.

Intakes & Reviews

These are one-on-one talks that I have with the participants in my training programme. What is expected? Where do they want to grow and develop? During the intakes, these and other questions form the basis for the assignment that follows. On completion, I conduct review interviews structured around key questions like: How have you benefited? Where do you want to develop further? This helps me identify the results and returns of an assignment after the event.

Kick Off & Group Review sessions

These are similar to the intake and review talks, only in this case with the entire target group.

Organisation-wide sessions

To generate momentum, identify common goals and also to gather input from all parts of the organisation, we sometimes hold organisation-wide sessions. Generally they are half-day sessions, in the afternoon or morning. An important activity because it can clarify the fundamental aspects of the desired change..

“Ron was asked to support the team leads who work offshore in their workplace leadership activities. Ron made several visits offshore, observed the individuals at work and gave them tips and advice. The way Ron approaches people makes them receptive to feedback. And you can see that they take this feedback seriously and act on it in practice.
During the visits, he organised several workshops for the rest of the crew, who greatly appreciated this input. We are seeing improvements in their reactions and behaviour now as well.
I very much enjoyed working with Ron over the past few months.”

“Over the years, my work-life balance had become skewed. Ron respectfully and honestly held up a mirror for me during the ‘walking coaching sessions’ and helped me identify ingrained patterns. In his friendly way, he motivated me to make some conscious choices, which have led to some highly beneficial changes. Something that has put me in control of my life again and restored a good work-life balance.
I enjoy my work more as a result and feel that I can really be there for my family again.
Thanks for all your help, Ron!”
